FAQs

  • Is there a local office?

    The head office is where we started out, in Petersfield, Hampshire. Our address is: ELTY, Unit 1B Holders Barn, 5 Clarendon Close, Station Road, Petersfield, GU32 3FR.

  • Are the tools to execute the small jobs provided?

    It is best to agree with your customer when you first meet them which tools they have and what you need to provide. For most DIY jobs, we would expect the Elty Team member to have the right tools for the job. For gardening, we find that most customers have the basic tools required, such as  a lawnmower and a strimmer.  Housekeepers would expect their customers to provide their cleaning materials including a hoover and cloths. However, we would recommend taking your own rubber gloves. For bigger jobs, you might need to hire equipment and this cost is passed onto customers.

  • How do I find out about an Elty job?

    One of the team from head office will contact you via SMS and/or Email and explain the details of the job, it is then up to you if you wish to take the job on.

  • How quickly does a customer normally require a job to be completed?

    We ask you to contact the customer as soon as you have received your job request. It is then a conversation between yourself and your customer as to how quickly the job can be completed.

  • How do I know if a customer is satisfied?

    If the customer is present at completion of the job please ask them if they are satisfied with the work done. If the customer is not present it is good courtesy to call and check all work has been carried out as requested.

    Head office always asks customers for feedback and we will pass this on to you.

  • Does Elty charge commission?

    Within the price quoted to a customer (this may be an hourly rate or the full job cost) Elty includes a 25% commission fee for Elty, the hourly rate for a team member (you) and VAT.

  • What if a customer requires additional work beyond the original brief?

    Communication is always key in situations where more work is required beyond the original quotation. Our office team is available to discuss the work directly with the customer for any extras that are chargeable if you are unsure as to the best approach.

  • How do I quote a job for a customer?

    When you apply, you agree a minimum hourly rate for each skill provided. Most of the Elty Team visit their customer before starting the work, to give an estimate of how long a job might take. Any materials can be charged in addition and often your customer will supply them. Our office team will be on hand to provide an official estimate to your customer based on your feedback should you require this support.

  • How does payment work?

    This is usually an hourly rate, but can be a day or job rate. Once you’ve finished the job you will complete an online time sheet which is processed on the 15th of each month.  You will be paid on the last working day of the month.
